Hi,

not really PureMVC related but on the Pirate Internet radio thing I heard this thing being mentioned:

Orchid UI framework by Samuel Agesilas

It is supposed to be an open source framework but I could not find anything about it on Google. Can anyone here point me to right direction?

Also.  I could not find the PureMVC Studio mentioned.  Has it not been released yet?

Best,
Sammi

Hi Sammi,

Nick hasn't released his app just yet but you can bet you'll be able to find it here when he does!

Not sure about Orchid.

Orchid UI is from the same cat that was working on Saffron UML, no? He's all but dropped off the face of the planet. My understanding is that he got so wrapped up in Orchid that he was rewriting Saffron to use it. The screens of Saffron were so sweet, it should be nice when it finally sees the light of day.

His website has been down for months and months (damn, almost a year!).

I wouldn't hold my breath on Saffron or Orchid. He first unveiled Saffron like 3 years ago and no one has ever seen a public version (besides what he showed at conferences). I always assumed the project just died for whatever reason.

I attended Samuel Agesilas presentation on Orchid UI framework at Flashbelt in July 2008.  But since then I've not heard any news on it since then.   I hope that he can resume working on Orchid or open source the code.

It's coming.  :)

Unfortunately development was delayed a bit, due to the requirements of my day job. You can follow my progress on my blog, http://blog.nc-design.net

Hey Nick,

It just dawned on me: is the process of generating the output project from the .mvc file sufficiently well abstracted that support could readily be added for other languages, such as Python or Objective C?

Because if it is, man, this could be the tool that propels PureMVC into those other communities. It's nice that it builds a working FlexBuilder project, but is there an AbstractFactory class or some such that could be extended to build these other project types?
